this one was also shot with the EF85f1.8USM , I shoot a lot of video and night street scnaps with thsi lens on my 5D2 and 7D , but I seldom use or even touch my 7D since I prefer my 5D2 and how my lenses (mostly primes )perform on my second 5D2 , my first 5d2 was not as good as my current 5D2.

I used 5 different Canon EOS5D2 bodies and 3 different Nikon d700 and I still own 2 5D2 bodies and 2 Nikon D700 bdies , I found that there are , unfortunately, a bit of copy variants, some are really good and some are not so good.

And I believe the latest batches of them are all good, or at least you have lesser chance to get a bad one now

This copy of 5D2 AF very well, a bit faster and more sure than my previous ones.

My latest D700,which I bought in this MArch replaced my oldest D700 ,which I bought in last September.

And the new one had a bit better high ISO and AWB , just like my newer 5D2 compared to my older 5D2.

I think I will sell one of my 2 5D2 bodies as the 5D3 gets out , I dont think I will buy another Nikon Dxxx since I dont like the way they put Video thing in the D3s and D300s, I thought I would never use the video in DSLR thing but now, it is more important to me than the still part of it , I believe the future is video , we will just shoot video and take some of frames out of it to make some good prints…………so, AF, metering .etc will become less and less important and OVF eventually replaced with new types of EVF even in pro market.

I think the 5D2 is the start of this trend and it was a big game changer for Canon.

the 5D2 ,the 7D and the 1d4 may kill Sony pro video , and I think Sony is now realizing this clearly , so, they just announced in Japan , that it will release an updated version of A900 or similar full frame with video with a new CMOS , but Sony also says until it finalizes developing a good enough contrast detect AF tech in D-SLR, Sony will not release it as Sony thinks it’s still prematured tech or whaever………….but I think it will be too late for Sony to suddenly follow this direction………………so many of TV commerical shooters in Japan already sold their Sony Video cams and using the 5D2 or 1D4.

So, if I have to use one cam , that has to be the 5D2 for me , the 1D4 is not my kind , I dont like the body and look of it very much and I dont think its IQ is any better than my D700, Iknow its AF is more sophisticated than the AF of my D700 or my 5D2 ,though.

But I think AF , Phase detect AF will soon die or dated tech at best any way.

And the 5D2 AF is not as bad as many trying to make out to be seriously , it seldom misses in Servo mode with 6 assistant points activated.

And also the better Nikon or even Pentax build quality thing , always Canon haters talk about in many Canon forums , is really exaggerated , there is no difference between Nikon and Canon build quality standard for sure , I dont think my D700 is any better built cam than my 5D2 or 50D.

And even more confusing thing to me is that many many people believe the 7D is actually a better build cam than the 5D2 , I dont think so , they feel exactly the same in my hands and in fact , the 5D2 is more durable because it lacks the weak flash part.

I wished my d700 had not had the annoying flash aprt of it , it is the weakest link of any cam.

And so, the D3s or 1D4 do not have the silly pop-up flash part.

I think almost all people who use a camera of this class have or will get an external flash or 2 any way , so why bother having the weak link in a serious cam other wise well made one like the D700 , the D300s , the 7D and even the 50D.

hope the 7D mark2 will come out without the annoying pop-up flash.

UPDATE: I have had many many silly quality control issues with my Nikon and I will sell one of my 3 D700 bodies and some lenses , I have ligh leaking issue with first my 24-70, my send 24-70 had zoom ring issue and I sell it and will never tocuh this lens agin.

my 50AFS had ring USM broken issue.
my 85f1.4D had peeling lens coating issue, my 16-35f4VR had zoom ring issue and 3 of my 3 D700 bodies had broken finder shutter issue and battery never come out of camera issue.

so , I sold them all.

I now have Nikon D700 (1) , AFS70-200f2.8VR2 , AFS50f1.4G, Zeiss 35f2ZF2 , Zeiss 18mm f3.5 ZF2.

Canon 5D2 (2), EF24-105f4LISUSM , EF85f1.2Lmark2 , Zeiss 35f2ZE, ZEiss 18mm f3.5 and Canon 70-200f2.8LISUSM2 , 580EX2 and 430EX2.

I think I will sell all my Nikon to get some Zeiss lenses for my canon, Nikon QC really suck.
